Christmas - Natal
I came across this book and I think it you be a good Christmas present for you.
Portugal is an established member of the European Union, one of the founders of the euro currency and a founding member of NATO. Yet it is an inconspicuous and largely overlooked country on the continent''s southwest rim. Barry Hatton shines a light on this enigmatic corner of Europe by blending historical analysis with entertaining personal anecdotes. He describes the idiosyncrasies that make the Portuguese unique and surveys the eventful path that brought them to where they are today. Portugal, which claims Europe''s oldest fixed borders, measures just 561 by 218 kilometers. Within that space, however, it offers a patchwork of widely differing and beautiful landscapes. With an easygoing and seductive lifestyle expressed most fully in their love of food, the Portuguese also have an anarchical streak evident in many facets of contemporary life. A veteran journalist and commentator on Portugal, the author gives a thorough overview of his adopted country.
Available here.

Quotes # 4
And that was one of the things I became fully aware this year. Love is, without a question my motor. What makes me want to move forward and be the best version of myself. The other thing I discovered was that, I have to choose better whom to give it to. On that note, I am definitely not scared to Love again. Not at all. Although, I evaluate those around me a bit more. Just because I don't have time to waste.
With Love,
Seren Dipity
Living with dogs is...
... sitting on the couch reading a book and finding an eyelash in your sweater. You carefully grab it. Close your eyes and ask for a wish. That wish. And when you are about to blow it you realize it's not an eyelash. It's a tiny black dog hair. You close your eyes and blow it anyways, cause after all the intention it's all that matters. And it's such a good wish, I am sure the Universe doesn't care about such a small detail.

"For a full year, AJ Jacobs followed every piece of health advice he
could — from applying sunscreen by the shot glass to wearing a bicycle
helmet while shopping. Onstage at TEDMED, he shares the surprising
things he learned." from here.

Happy Birthday Ursinho...
Parabéns, R! :)
I am guessing the 3 million packages I sent you did not get
to the City of London on time. Bummer! Oh well, you will get it eventually…
Have a wonderful day. I will be thinking of you.
On your birthday check:
Your life on
Earth – Find out how, since the date of your birth, your life has
progressed; including how many times your heart has beaten, and how far you
have traveled through space.
Some interesting things that happened on October 24th
around the world:
- 1147 – After a siege of
4 months crusader knights led by Afonso Henriques reconquered Lisbon.
(How cool is that? Something that connects your day of birth
to Lisbon).
- 1901 – Annie Edson Taylor becomes the first person to
go over Niagara Falls, in a barrel.
- 1926 – Harry
Houdini's last performance, which is at the Garrick Theater in Detroit
- - 1929 – "Black Thursday" stock market crash on the New York Stock Exchange.
- 1931 – The George Washington Bridge was opened to traffic, connecting the states of New York and New Jersey.
- 1945 – Founding of the United Nations.
More interesting stuff here.

Music for my ears # 4
Came across this fantastic band called Thievery Corporation. I think you will like it. Two guys from the US shared a passion for Bossa Nova (Brazilian-born genre) and created the album Saudade . AMAZING!

Just finished watching "The Art of Getting By". Great movie with Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore. A soft, interesting and a bit philosoohical movie. Available on Netflix.

Something cool I want to share...
OMG, the coolest thing.
Night Skiing As You've Never Seen It: With LED Ski Suits
Just in time for Halloween...
I have always loved abandoned places... The silence tells a story that only some can understand.
One of my dream trips, when I return to Portugal e to drive though the country for 1 or 2 months and photograph some of the abandoned houses and towns. On that note, check this out:
Abandoned places all over the world: Part I and Part II. Terrific.

Obrigada!
Com os melhores cumprimentos,

One TedTalk a day keeps insanity away #10
Golden Circle essence by Simon Sinek
We should all watch this talk, at least one in our lives.
Up and down!
vezes esqueço-me
Humpf! Mas pronto. Voltando ao modo
pinguins do Madagascar: Sorrir e acenar. Sorrir e acenar.
nível e a educação!
