Writting Skills!

So, today I have received an indirect work related complement that truly made me happy.
I have been in Vancouver for 8 years. And as you might know, English is not my first language. I went to University in Portugal, I wrote assignments and long, long papers in University… but all in Portuguese. Hence, my academic and professional written Portuguese was extremely advanced compared to my English. Which always made me a bit less confident about it, I confess. To improve my writing skills, I started reading books in English; I’ve attended business writing classes, grammar seminars at UBC, SFU, online. You name it! I have done as much as I could.
Today, one of the managers was going through a policies and procedures extensive guide I put together by myself, for scratch. She thought it had been written (or at least edited) by senior management before it reached her desk. It truly made me happy. Hard work, sooner or later pays off! J

Turns me off!

E isto fez-me lembrar de um dos meu deal breakers/turn offs in the opposite sex – a Man that doesn’t read.

Isto fez-me lembrar o Ursinho no verão quando ele veia fazer a “derradeira visita”.

Gosto. Adoro.Turns me on. Sei lá.

E vocês? Quais são os vossos “turn-off’s” ? Querem partilhar?

MANIFESTO ANTI-STAR WARS

BASTA PUM BASTA!

Agora tudo é fã da porra do STAR WARS.

ESTOU FARTA DESTA MERDA! FARTA DE VER O MEU FB WALL INUNDADO DE POST DAQUELES ROBOTS BRANCOS, DO CABEÇUDO DO DARTH. FARTA DESTA GERAÇÃO DE HIPSTERS QUE AINDA ANDAVA A NAVEGAR DE COLHÃO EM COLHÃO QUANDO O PRIMEIRO EPISÒDIO SAIU E AGORA ACHAM QUE ANDARAM NA ESCOLA A SUBIR AS ÀRVORES COM O LUKE, E A NOITE TEM PESADELOS COM O DARTH E A SUA ESPADA LUMINOSA DA LOJA DOS CHINESES.

É UM COIO D'INDIGENTES, D'INDIGNOS E DE CEGOS! É UMA RÊSMA DE CHARLATÃES E DE VENDIDOS, QUE SO QUEREM ESTAR NA MODA E SÓ PODE PARIR ABAIXO DE ZERO!

ABAIXO A GERAÇÃO!

MORRA O LUKE SKYWALKER, MORRA! PIM!

UMA GERAÇÃO COM UM Darth Vader À PROA É UMA CANÔA UNI SECO!

O DARTH VADER É UM CIGANO!

O LUKE É MEIO CIGANO!

(…)

O LUKE PESCA TANTO DE POESIA QUE ATÉ FAZ SONETOS COM LIGAS DA PRINCESA LEIA!

O Luke É UM HABILIDOSO!

A PRINCESA LEIA VESTE-SE MAL!

O DARTH VADER USA CEROULAS DE MALHA!

O LUKE É PARVO!

MORRA O STARWARS, MORRA! PIM!
(…)

O Darth É UM CIGANÃO! (jà disse)

O Yoda NÚ É HORROROSO!

O Yoda CHEIRA MAL DA BOCA!

MORRA O STAR WARS, MORRA! PIM!

Sim, eu detesto o ‪#‎Starwars‬.

A state of mind.

Today I realized that we need to be under a specific mind state for certain things to happen in our lives. Specially Love. It is something very hard to explain, to put in words…
Basically, we need to subconsciously emanate a very clean golden bright light from our heart, our mind and our soul.
To find love, we must get rid of that weight that we have been carrying in our back. That pain, and suffering. We need to be bright and open. We need to be free. We need to be clean. You know when you take a deep breath, and you feel something heavy in your stomach? Like a heavy and grey ball stuck there? Exactly the opposite of that. I am not saying that to find what you are looking for you must get rid of all your problems… but you must to at least make peace with something within you that will allow you to transform you. That will allow you to emanate that golden light.
That was exactly how I felt in the summer of 2014 when I met him – yes it did not work, it’s true. But I was clean. For the longest time I had felt like I had gotten rid of all the unfinished business that I carried with me over the past 15 years: The uncertainty regarding my love for I. He came back to my life late 2013, and then I realized I was done with it. I didn’t love him anymore. I accepted the rejection from the police officer. I made peace with the fact that the problems I had with my current manager where mostly a projection of her fears and her self-esteem… and a couple of other things that I don’t feel like writing about.
My previous roommate, L when to Burning Man this past summer. The playa allowed her to forgive herself in regards to her relationship and guilt with her late mother and father. Even though I don’t fully agree with how she views herself towards this, the way she looked at it and made her look at herself in a more accepting and forgiving way allowed her to leave that heavy wait in playa. Allowed her to reconnect with herself and open her heart, to the point where she now found love and it’s very happy.
For me, I still hurt about my story with “Ursinho”. I still feel a crazy mix of feelings, guilt, pain that doesn’t allow me to see what I need to see to move forward and be clean. Deep inside I feel that I really want to talk to him to release all of the pain inside me. That will allow me to move forwards. Although, I am still struggling about how to do it. Do I send him an email before the end of the year and leave the 2015 in 2015 or do I contact him once I am in the UK in March and ask to meet him? I am not sure, if I am afraid of contacting him because I know once I say what I want to say, it will be finally over. Or, am I hopping for something more when I am in Europe and try to see him. Hard to tell, my friends… The mind really plays some tricks on us. And I know that I am my worst enemy.
I know I will sort it out. I know I will reach the clean state of mind as soon as I am out of Vancouver. That I am sure about. I just need to find the best way to walk the journey until the day of my return.
Thomas and I are much, much closer now. And he is the most amazing person ever, but I think I need to release my thoughts relating to “Teddy” to be able to reconnect with myself and then the ones around me.
I will keep you posted… Thank you for reading.

Gosto tanto disto, pah...

A serio.
Ora bom dia, sim?

My food habits - replacements

As I mentioned before, over 1 year ago I decided to start a weekly vegetarian diet. Not only because I had stomach problems but because I felt much better when not eating most animal products. Nowadays I can tell you I found great balance. I am not vegan or 100% vegetarian. I avoid to eat out and plan my meals on a weekly basis (Sunday evenings I cook 2-3 different meals to eat during the week). I lost some weight and at 30 years old I feel better than ever. Today I am going to provide you guys with a list of some major replacements in my cooking habits that made a big difference.

Regular milk with organic almond, rice or coconut milk.

I never liked milk in the first place, and I drank it mostly with coffee or chocolate. Nowadays I have at least 1 cup a day with my morning smoothie. I tend to buy this brand also at costco. When it goes on sale I pay about $8.50 for 6.

Olive oil with avocado oil (or organic coconut oil)

I like olive oil. Don’t get me wrong. It’s very healthy and all those things we know. But I felt it was a bit heavy and fatty. I find Avocado oil lighter. You cannot taste the difference. Guarantee you. I get mine at costco for about $12 a bottle (1.5 L)

Regular butter with Vegan Butter.

I used to be a big butter eater. But with my food habits completely started leaving butter alone. I'll use it casually for cooking, baking or on toast. I guarantee you you can barely tell the difference. Normally purchase it at Trader Joe around $3.50 a container.

Normal pasta with Quinoa and Brow Rice Noodles

This was major. Specially because it's a very tasty and lighter pasta. I also get it at TJ's in the US for around $2.50 a package. Now I don't feel so guilty when I eat pasta. You can even get the lasagna base. Yuuuummmm! Half the calories, amazing flavor!

There might be couple more things I replaced, but I cannot recall at this moment. I'll keep you posted.

Challenge: Replace some of these items in your diet for 1 month and let us know what your think? :)

Love,

Seren Dipity
